Use Case Explorer
SkillAIbility works towards a manufacturing sector where AI and automation extend what people can do rather than replacing them. The project builds on four pathways that emerge from stronger complementarity between human tasks and digital technology: empowerment, augmentation, inclusivity and symbiosis. SkillAIbility is testing what human-centric AI and automation look like on a real shop floor. Nineteen use cases run across five partner testbeds and Learning Factories.
Each one is anchored in a specific industrial activity and classified with its NACE code, keeping the work tied to identifiable sectors rather than to manufacturing in general, and each targets workers who are usually left out of technology transitions: people with disabilities, low-skilled workers and an ageing workforce. What are Learning Factories?
A Learning Factory is a realistic manufacturing environment for education, training and research: a physical learning space with real instruments and equipment, reproducing the working conditions of an industrial site for training purposes.
What are the SkillAIbility pathways?
The pathways are four ways that AI and automation can be combined with human work so that technology extends what people can do instead of replacing them. They emerge from assessing the complementarity between human tasks and digital technologies, using human factors (physical, mental, perceptual and psychosocial) as the assessment criteria.
