A new special issue of Computers in Industry will focus on Human-AI Symbiosis in Industrial Decision-Making, Automation, and Work Environments, opening a timely academic and industrial conversation on how AI and human workers can collaborate in dynamic, real-world industrial environments.
This edition will examine how recent innovations in AI can move beyond traditional automation and foster adaptive, trustworthy, and inclusive AI systems that support, rather than replace, human capabilities. The goal is to explore synergistic human-AI teaming in manufacturing, logistics, and services, with a strong focus on explainability, risk awareness, and human-centric design.
