SkillAIbility is proud to contribute to the 11th IFAC Conference on Manufacturing Modelling, Management and Control (MIM 2025)—a leading human-centric manufacturing conference—taking place from 30 June to 3 July in Trondheim, Norway. Through a special evening session and the presentation of two research papers, our project highlights its commitment to inclusive, human-focused innovation in the digital transformation of manufacturing and logistics.
Organised in collaboration with the X-HuLog4.0 project and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology Production Management Research Team, SkillAIbility’s presence at MIM 2025 reflects the conference’s overarching mission: Be the impact. Make a better world.
Interactive evening session at this human-centric manufacturing conference
On 1 July, SkillAIbility and X-HuLog4.0 will co-host a thought-provoking session titled “Sunset of the Human-Only Era: A New Dawn for Human-AI Industry.” Taking place from 22:15 to 23:15 in Room Andromeda, which overlooks the sunset, the session will explore the evolution of roles, intelligence, and trust in the future of human-AI co-driven manufacturing and logistics.
This unique evening dialogue is designed as an open, interactive conversation. Rather than a traditional panel format, the session will be moderated by experts who will engage participants through guiding questions, encouraging active dialogue and reflection. The aim is to co-create a vision of future needs and opportunities for researchers and practitioners working at the intersection of AI, robotics, and human factors. The session is one of several informal but impactful contributions SkillAIbility brings to this human-centric manufacturing conference.
Presenting research on human-centric metrics and robotics
SkillAIbility researchers will also present two peer-reviewed papers that further contribute to the conference’s human-centric and impact-driven agenda.
Paper 1: Interpreting Viability Metrics and KPIs in Manufacturing Based on Human-Centricity Approach.
Authors: Marjan Gharahkhani, Sotirios Panagou
Session: Human-Centric Methods for Knowledge Engineering and Knowledge Management in Industry 5.0 Manufacturing Systems – II
Date & Time: Friday, 16:30
This paper examines how conventional key performance indicators (KPIs) in manufacturing can be redefined through a human-centric approach. By incorporating qualitative aspects such as worker well-being, engagement, and adaptability, the authors propose new ways of evaluating performance that align with the principles of Industry 5.0.
Paper 2: A Human-Centric Evaluation of Robotic Solutions in Production and Intralogistics
Authors: Amir Zare, Yüksel Değirmencioğlu Demiralay, Sotirios Panagou, Fabio Sgarbossa
Session: Resilient Workforce, Successful Transformation: Human Factors in the Digital Shift
Date & Time: Wednesday, 11:00
This paper addresses the evaluation of robotic technologies in production and intralogistics from a human-centric perspective. Focusing on factors such as trust, usability, and worker integration, the study offers a framework for assessing how robots can support a resilient and inclusive workforce, rather than replacing human roles.
Through these contributions, SkillAIbility demonstrates its role in shaping a manufacturing future that values inclusion, co-creation, and ethical AI integration. The project looks forward to engaging with the wider research and industry community at MIM 2025.
